Coconut Oil vs Skin Moisturizer

Coconut Oil Vs Moisturizer

Coconut oil is good for your skin because of its natural antibacterial and moisture-retention properties, but it may increase breakouts in acne-prone skin. Coconut oil has been proven to help soften rough skin, but what it doesn’t do is act as an efficient barrier to seal in moisture. When the body is able to naturally produce its own hyaluronic acid and moisture, the aging process is slowed down.

If you have acne prone skin, coconut oil tends to clog pores easily and may exacerbate the inflammatory issue. Not only that, but it can also increase blackheads and whiteheads, which are signs of inflammatory acne. In some cases, there’s also a risk of coconut oil causing milia, a condition caused by clogged pores that leads to tiny white or yellow bumps on your skin’s surface, usually where the skin is thinner like under the eyes.

When it comes to an anti-aging skincare regimen, using a medical grade moisturizer like Revision’s DEJ Face Cream or Skinbetter Trio Rebalancing Moisture Treatment helps to restore moisture to the skin, as well as provide collagen stimulation.  Although coconut oil can provide temporary hydration, it is not clinically proven to help with the overall health of our skin. It contains ZERO anti-aging properties.

In conclusion, coconut oil is amazing for hair care and temporary relief of dry skin, but it’s not recommended for primary use as a skin care treatment. The Art Of Anti-Aging offers medical grade moisturizing products and we custom develop a skincare regimen that is suitable for all skin types.
