Microneedling: It’s Not Just For The Face

The benefits of microneedling include a reduction in the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. It also improves hyperpigmentation, dark spots, acne scars, and stretch marks, and it creates a youthful glow. That said, microneedling is not just for the face. In fact, we can use it on the scalp, neck, chest, hands, and anywhere else on the body.

Microneedling uses thin, tiny needles to create controlled micro-injuries in the skin. This tricks the body into starting its natural healing process, which stimulates collagen and elastin production. These proteins keep your skin firm and smooth. As a result, this treatment is one of the quickest and easiest ways to achieve a more youthful appearance.

Here is what microneedling can achieve on other areas of the body:

Scalp

On the scalp, we typically perform microneedling to help with hair loss. In fact, studies show that creating these same micro-injuries can help regenerate the health of hair follicles. Therefore, it is excellent for people who are thinning or who have a condition called alopecia.

Body (Neck, Chest, Stomach, and Other Areas)

Microneedling anywhere on the body can help treat saggy, crepey skin, stretch marks, or scarring. Best of all, this treatment is quick and easy, with downtime lasting only 24 hours. You really can’t go wrong with it!

What Is a Microneedling Treatment Like?

First, we apply topical numbing to the skin before treatment. The procedure then takes 15-30 minutes, depending on the areas treated. During treatment, it feels like light sandpaper moving across the skin. Immediately afterward, you will notice redness that usually lasts 24-48 hours. Healing time depends on the setting used during each session. In addition, we can control and adjust the downtime around a patient’s social calendar. As a result, some patients heal completely in as little as 24 hours, while others may take 2-4 days.
