What is Kybella and how does it work?

KYBELLA® is the only non-surgical FDA-approved treatment that targets fat cells in the treatment area under the chin to improve the appearance of submental fullness (double chin).

KYBELLA is a formulation of a naturally occurring-substance (deoxycholic acid) that destroys fat cells in the area under the chin. Once those fat cells are destroyed, they can no longer store or accumulate fat, resulting in less submental fullness, a contoured jawline, and a skin tightening effect in the area. Treatment is 1 session every 2 months, for a total of 3 sessions.

Minimal downtime is required. Topical numbing is applied to the skin, to make the treatment as comfortable as possible and ice is applied immediately post treatment. Most patients resume their normal activities after each session. The area usually feels sore after, possible bruising & a little swelling post-treament may occur. Re-treatment is not expected to be necessary. ​
